A Random Act of Kindness

Hi! Welcome to Blog #2.  I am starting to get the hang of this, I think? Kinda, sorta:)  You know this world can be cruel sometimes and you never know what might be thrown your way.  Each day you wake up thinking you have life figured out at times, and then BOOM, something happens.  You may have had a rough start to your day, something may not be quiet right at home or you just have deadlines looming over your head for work.  Whatever the reason, somewhere in your day, you deserve a SMILE!

On Friday, January 17th I decided that I was going to make at least a couple of people do just that…smile.  I wanted my cup of mojo and decided to stop at www.starbucks.com  on my way to work.  The line was long and I was waiting patiently.  I could tell that people behind me were getting a little ancy.  When I pulled up to the window to pay I acknowledged to the cashier that I wanted to pay for the next 2 cars behind me.  She looked at me for a second and asked if I was sure.  I replied, “absolutely”.  As she was ringing up and paying for the orders, she stated that the car behind me was free, so I stated, “ok, let me have the next car then”.  Again, I get the puzzled look of her and several others near the window quietly listening.  By now, I have an audience.  When she gave me my change back and my perfect Caramel Flan Frappacino, I stated to her, “my request is to make someone else’s day a little brighter”.  She looked at me with the biggest smile on her face and she stated that I had brighten her day and that was the kindest thing she has seen in quite a while.  I drove away and had the biggest grin on my face!  I was so excited and was pondering what my next move was going to be.  I was on a mission.  It is the best feeling that you simply can’t explain.

I can honestly say that I have been on the other side of those random acts of kindness.  The impact that it has on me and my life is simple…I can’t stop SMILING!

So I leave you with this wonderful quote to think about.

Have you had a kindness shown? Pass it on; ‘Twas not given for thee alone, Pass it on; Let it travel down the years, Let it wipe another’s tears, ‘Til in Heaven the deed appears -Pass it on.  – Henry Burton (1840-1930)  Clergyman, Writer

Do you have a random act of kindness story to share?  I would love to hear all about it!
